Codes in screenshots

Found a code in a photo or a screenshot? Share it to Scan QR and it’s read on the spot.

How it works

Three seconds from code to action

  1. 1
    Point the camera
No button to press — the code is read as soon as it’s in view.
  2. 2
    Check what’s inside
Links, Wi-Fi, contacts and barcodes are shown clearly before anything happens.
  3. 3
    Act in one tap

FAQ

Questions & answers

Is Scan QR free?
Yes. Scanning is free and unlimited. The free version shows ads and lets you create 10 codes; Pro removes ads and limits.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Scanning, creating codes and your history all work without internet.
Which codes can it read?
QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, ITF and Codabar.
Will a code open a website by itself?
Not unless you want it to. By default you see what’s inside first and decide. If you prefer speed, turn on Settings → Open Links Automatically.
How do I read a code from a screenshot or a photo?
On the scanner, tap the photo button and pick the image. Or, in Photos or any other app, tap Share → Scan QR Code.
Does my history sync between devices?
On iPhone and iPad — yes, through your own iCloud account when iCloud is on for Scan QR. It is stored in your private iCloud space, which we cannot access.
I’m updating from version 1. Is my history kept?
Yes. On first launch, version 2 moves over your scans, your created codes, the free codes you had left and your color. Version 2 needs iOS 26 or later; on older systems version 1 keeps working.
Does Scan QR collect my data?
What you scan never leaves your device unless you share it. We collect usage statistics and crash reports on our own servers in the EU — you can turn statistics off in Settings → Privacy. The free version shows ads from Google, Unity and other advertising networks working through them. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I cancel Pro?
In your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. In the app: Settings → Manage Subscription.
I bought Pro, but it isn’t active.
Open Settings → Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy. If that doesn’t help, write to us.
Is there an Android version?
It’s on the way — coming to Google Play soon.
